Ladies SHOULD be allowed to use a pole saw!

Can a small muppet lady can use full size tree trimming saws, and if so, which kind would they prefer? I firmly believe that ladies should NOT be prohibited from using large saws to cut branches. Sorry it’s a late response, but I hope you can help. Im a lady similar age, weigh 8 stone, about 5 ft 9, weak. I’ve only used curved manual saws for cutting branches would I be strong enough to handle a battery pole saw with a 10 inch chain saw on the end. Would I be able to cope with kick back safely, or how could I avoid kick back if I’m cutting a branch amongst many other branches. Is it safe if the chain pole saw falls down onto a lower branch, or side branch, immediately after its sawn through the correct branch, as I’m not sure if I could steady it when it gives way on the cut through. Do I have to make sure the chain saw doesn’t touch any other branches, whilst it’s sawing. I haven’t tried a manual pole saw yet, but I think, although safe, I wouldn’t get much done because, like your wife, it would take too long. Thank you for this video.

    • @PatrickParsonWorkshop
      @PatrickParsonWorkshop 7 днів тому

      (This is just my opinion, so do check the safety information available on the saw your are considering). I wouldn't think that kickback poses a big threat with a pole-chain saw. You are far enough away from the saw that it wouldn't kick into your body. Also, it being on a pole helps keep it away from you if it does kickback. Gravity helps this kind of a saw if you start sawing at the top side of a branch. Always think through where the saw will go if it kicks back and where it will go after it cuts through the ranch. As with most tools, with a little forethought, you should be fine. Best of luck.

    I've had one of these for years. Cats who hate eachother by day will sleep in there together at night to survive. It sits on a patio. I only have one door now but they still use it. Would not set direct on the ground. Have also put a plastic tarp over it when we had a lot of rain. It still works well, easy to clean even when I had some spraying problems. I also use plastic bins w/ sheets of Styrofoam. I find them via Freecycle or NextDoor in my area.

    If you want an authentic old distressed look, you might consider sanding off the planer marks.. amateurish and phony otherwise. To stop the blotching, first rub on paint thinner or equivalent and let soak for awhile. This will then be the hiway for the "danish" oil to penetrate uniformly.

    You adscured the natural beauty of the walnut by staining it. A tung oil finish is the way to go, no wax needed. Also should replace the bullseye and the butt plate spacer along with the sling swivel and original round front sight hood.

    Hi Patrick. I'm interested in making this Duck Brooder. Can I ask how high is it from top to bottom? Also how think is the plywood? I have ducklings that are 2 1/2 weeks old and they getting tall so I'm wondering if 24" height is good enough to keep them in there until they frow full feathers so they can regulate their own temperaturs. Also I think your plywood appears to be 1/2" to 3/4" but I was thinking of using thinner plywood, like 3/8" to keep it light for moving it around, which is not often. Thanks in advance.

    • @PatrickParsonWorkshop
      @PatrickParsonWorkshop 7 днів тому

      Great questions. I honestly don't remember how high it was. It was for a friend, so I don't have it handy. I would agree that making the box 8 - 12 inches taller would be a good thing. That would give you flexibility regarding how far from the ducklings the light is. I would go with 3/8" plywood, as you suggested, for exactly that reason (less weight). Thanks and good luck.

    • @PatrickParsonWorkshop
      @PatrickParsonWorkshop 7 днів тому

      Thank you so much! I know exactly what you mean about the blue muppets. Since you love them too, I will tell you the story of Jimmy (I've never told anyone this online): Jimmy started his life as a Jim Henson Studios Whatnot. I don't believe they make them anymore. They were the random muppet that you would see in a Sesame Street scene...like muppet extras. I bought him on Ebay, after having the idea of adding a sidekick to my channel. Jimmy DiResta, the famous artist/maker/UA-camr was the inspiration. He is a guy who knows how to make anything (and shouldn't a sidekick on a DYI channel know how to do everything?). He was made with a leather jacket and had a completely different look. I found some very small clothes (0 - 3 months old), hat, and doll glasses. I made his beard out of a throw pillow that had that material. I found the little Jimmy patch at an antique store. I thought he looked like he came from the northeast (NY, NJ...), so I tried to give him that accent. I use camera and editing tricks to fit him into the scenes and I do all the puppeteering and voice myself. Figuring out how to fit him into the video is really my favorite part of doing this. I love him and he makes me laugh...which is weird, because I am him. Well, maybe a true muppet fan can understand. Thanks for your comment. Hope you keep watching!

    Thank You! I purchased a guitar that had the Lyric system already installed. The previous owner installed the battery on the block that contains the serial number and model number. They also wire tied to the top sound board. I removed the entire system and purchased a new battery pack pouch and adhesive clips from our friends over at StewMac.I cleaned up the old install and followed your instructions. The Lyric works extremely well. All wires are secured properly and are out of sight and away from the sound board. This was very helpful. Thanks again!!

    • @PatrickParsonWorkshop
      @PatrickParsonWorkshop 7 днів тому

      Yes. They need to be under cover of a porch, carport, or something like that. I understand the flimsiness comment. When I think about it though, they are as sturdy as they need to be. Nothing should be on top of it. If it's on a porch or under cover, there probably won't be anything bumping it, so it is a rigid as it needs to be.

    Over the years, ive bought tons of cat shelters, most of them sit unused. I currently build a tarp and plywood cave under an outdoor patio table. I lean some plywood panels against the sides of the table to make walls, then drape the table with two tarps. I lay a tarp underneath the table and curve the tarp up on the sides to keep water out. Then i lay down a heavy moving blanket and lay a large heating pad on top of that, and lots of smaller blankets i throw on top the heating pad. It becomes like a cave under the table with exits on each end. Luckily i have an outdoor outlet for the heating pad which is convenient, and a partially covered deck where the table sits. I also have a secondary house atop the table, which is just one of those cat play pens covered on top, and filled with with blankets and small heating pad. They all like the table cave best
